CEC firmly believes that safety success results from prioritizing individuals over projects.
Our safety culture is built upon a foundation of relationship-based training, shared knowledge, and engagement at all levels within our organization. We continuously assess the effectiveness of our safety program and make necessary updates, as exemplified by our response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
Safety is not merely a requirement to fulfill for us at CEC; it is an integral aspect of our daily operations. Ensuring the well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and the public is not a mere checkbox—it is ingrained in every task we undertake. From the moment new recruits join our team, they are educated on the importance of safety, and it remains a focal point of our morning meetings. We understand that safety is an ongoing endeavor; we never consider ourselves finished. Our diligent Safety Managers regularly patrol the worksites, actively seeking out potential hazards that may be hidden from plain sight.
We empower every member of our organization to take personal responsibility for safety, both for themselves and for others. To ensure everyone is on the same page, we employ a range of measures, including comprehensive training, detailed written plans, Job Hazard Analyses, informative signage, and open conversations. Informed workers are safe workers. Knowledge of the plan is shared with everyone on the team, so they know not only the “how” but also the “why” for each step. By employing these strategies, we strive to create a unified and safety-conscious environment throughout our entire workforce.
Safety is not something we do in addition to work – it is how we do the work. Our safety culture is based on the belief that everyone is entitled to a safe and healthy place to work. The responsibility for the health and safety of our employees begins with each person on site and extends far beyond compliance with Federal OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulatory requirements.
We plan each of our operations to be safe and count safety as one of the measures of our success, understanding that ultimately, it is not about the numbers, but rather, it is about the people being able to go home safely to their families each and every day.
