California Engineering Contractors awarded ASCE Section 9 “Outstanding Bridge Project” for 2024

California Engineering Contractors Inc. (CEC) was recently the recipient of the ASCE Section 9 “Outstanding Bridge Project” for 2024. CEC was recognized for their unique and innovative work on rehabilitating the Old River Bridge for Caltrans on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay. Built in 1915, the center swing bridge required all new electrical and control systems as well as replacement and upgrades to gears, drives and mechanical components dating back to the original construction over 100 years ago. Work was completed safely and successfully, all while maintaining the original look and character of this historic structure and protecting critical local wildlife.California Engineering Contractors Inc.
